5 years ago today I quit drinking. In the time since, my life has taken a total and complete turn around. It was the day my life began.
I feel that I have been truly blessed. I have more amazing things in my life than I can count.

Happy New Years to all. Peace.

My favorite Bobby line at the end of the first set, "we're gonna take a short break now. Everybody hang loose."

average_joe: after you had been posting here for a while I finally responded to one of your posts and stated, "You are certainly not 'average.'" I didn't realize at the time how true that statement is. It's tremendous that you have shared this anniversary with us. Thank You.

Thank you for the DP offer but I am all set. I wanted to just express my gratitude for your revelation here this evening.

Big wheel turning by the grace of God

Thanks. I appreciate the kind words. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I've been gone for most of the holiday season. You were right about 10/1/94, smokin'.

Not-So-Average Joe:
Happy Birthday a day late. I've recently passed the 3 1/2 year mark. I know one other guy with a January 1st sobriety date--but I haven't seen him in awhile.

My life is incalculably better sober. I'd love the opportunity to try just one more GD show with a clear head (if I wasn't dosed, I was totally baked). My recent experience shows that I enjoy live music just as much if not more than before--I certainly remember it better...

hey AJ - that is awesome!!! This is the first New Years Eve in 20+ years that I have been sober. Granted my sobriety has only been about a month (minus two one night slips - damn!)

Felt great to wake up New Years morning feeling alive and good.

Congratulations man!!!! 5 years is something to be very very proud of.

I have certainly learned in my case that one is too many, and a hundred not enough.

Keep up the good work!!!
